Representing Indonesia’s Young Generation, This is what Sahara Putri Ayu Kenanga Gunawan said at the “10th World Water Forum”

NASIONALXPOS.CO.ID, BALI — Representing Indonesia’s young generation, Sahara Putri Ayu Kenanga Gunawan attended the “Youth Pre-Forum 2nd Stakeholder’s Consultation Meeting” (SCM). Which is part of the “10th World Water Forum” series of events, at the Intercontinental Bali Resort, Uluwatu street, Number 45, Jimbaran, Badung, Bali. Thursday, (12/10/2023).

The “10th World Water Forum” event is an activity of the World Water Council, the largest cross-border forum in the world which focuses on discussing water issues and finding global solutions as answers to these issues. With members from more than 50 countries on 5 continents, and represented by more than 250 organizations in different sectors from all over the world, including Indonesia.

Clean water is one of the most crucial basic human needs besides energy and food. All three have a significant impact on climate change and sustainable development.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, Basuki Hadimuljono, who attended the event, in his speech said that the importance of the relationship between water, energy and food will be one of the important issues discussed at the 10th World Water Forum.

“I call for international cooperation in water resources management, especially public-private partnerships related to water, food and energy, to be prioritized at the policy level,” said Hadi.

World Water Council (WWC) President Loïc Fauchon called for continued water diplomacy to convince world leaders that “Water is politics.”

To overcome the global water crisis, he mentioned several priority steps, including creating a new balance between water for humans and nature, water for agriculture and irrigation, as well as integrated water resources management.

Meanwhile, Sahara Putri Ayu Kenanga Gunawan, a delegate representing Indonesian Youth at the international forum, conveyed the importance of preserving the environment.

“We will never be aware for preserving the environment until the last drop of water on earth runs out. We represent young people all over the world who have high ambitions. The younger generation is not a matter of age but a hope for life in the future. The involvement of the younger generation is an important key to the success of improving the environment, community welfare, and equality in human rights. (Uchan)
