NASIONALXPOS.CO.ID, JAKARTA —–The National Workers’ Union (SPN) held another demonstration, voicing the case that occurred at PT. GUNBUSTER NICKEL INDUSTRY (PT. GNI). The demonstration this time, was also attended by the leaders of other federations as a form of solidarity among workers, including the Indonesian Workers’ Association (ASPEK Indonesia), the Indonesian Prosperous Labor Union 92 (SBSI 92), the Indonesian Trade Union Association (GSBI), the National Union of Workers (KSPN), Indonesian Trade Union Alliance Congress Confederation (KASBI), and Indonesian Muslim Workers’ Brotherhood (PPMI).
In his oration, SPN made several demands including,
1. To speak honestly and correctly without sacrificing the nation’s children for the bloody tragedy at PT. GNI.
2. Free the workers/laborers of PT. GNI detained by the Central Sulawesi Regional Police.
3. Arrest and Trial Chinese Foreign Workers (TKA), who attacked Local Workers (TK) and did damage.
4. Carry out K3 and other normative rights at PT. GNI.
5. Provide freedom of association for SPN members and workers/laborers at PT. GNI.
6. Eliminate the PKWT system at PT. GNI and change it to PKWTT system.
7. Rehire SPN Management and Members at PT. GNI who was laid off.
8. Give strict sanctions to Entrepreneurs of PT. GNI.
9. Pay and return skill allowances without discrimination.
10. Pay compensation for death due to a work accident for the late Nirwana and the late Made.
11. Stop intimidating and pitting workers/laborers at PT. GNI.
Some of the demands above for and in the name of justice for SPN workers/laborers, held a demonstration at the State Palace and the Head Office of PT. GNI. Tuesday, (24/01/2023).
SPN also highlighted and questioned the press releases from the Head of the National Police, and the Central Sulawesi Regional Police which, some time ago emphasized that, after the clash between local TKI and TKA, there were victims who died. What was the cause of the victim’s death?.
The Central Sulawesi Regional Police released the news that there were 17 people who became suspects from Indonesian Citizens, and until now they are still continuing to summon and examine only Indonesian Citizens, in this case, the Central Sulawesi Police have not been heard of and have been seen examining and detaining Chinese Foreign Workers who are also commit acts against the law.
Around 13.00 PM Western Indonesian Time, Representatives of the demonstrators consisted of the general chairman of the SPN Joko Heriyono, the general secretary of the SPN Ramidi, the Chairperson of the DPD East Java Nuryanto, the Chairperson of the DPD Central Java SPN Sutarjo, the Chairperson of the West Java SPN Dadan S, the Chairperson of the DPD Banten SPN represented by Sokani, The chairman of the DPC SPN Morowali Katsaing, and two PT GNI workers were received by deputy 3 of the Office of the Presidential Secretariat.
Joko Heriyono as Head of SPN explained to deputy 3 that, “It is not true, that SPN was the provocateur in the riot that occurred at PT GNI. Members of SPN just expressed their aspirations for alleged violations of labor regulations and riots that occurred after the strike was over.” Explained Joko.
Joko Heriyono also emphasized in a press statement that, earlier today’s action would also raid PT GNI’s head office on Jalan Sudirman, however, according to information received by the DPP SPN, top management is currently heading to PT GNI in Morowali.
SPN will observe and see the good intentions of PT. GNI within seven (7) days or no later than the next fourteen (14) days. SPN also demands that PT GNI improve working conditions and work norms as well as requirements at the company not to suppress labor unions and fire SPN members at PT GNI.
“However, if within the specified timeframe there has been no change in a positive direction, the DPP SPN will hold a large-scale demonstration at the PT GNI head office,” said Joko Heriyono.
Ramidi, as the General Secretary of SPN added, Head of Deputy 3 of the Presidential Staff, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, agreed to convey that, normative matters are absolute, must be conveyed, and will communicate with other related parties.
SPN also demanded that, the police form an independent investigation team and involve union members so that the information that developed was not confusing.
In addition to demanding certain parties as provocateurs of riots in the suppression of trade unions (union bushing) as well as provide assistance to 17 workers who were detained, said Ramidi. (red/uchan)
