Singaraja Prison Returns 23 Prisoners in the Assimilation Program

NASIONALXPOS.CO.ID, SINGARAJA —As many as ten inmates of the Class IIB Singaraja Prison, have again received the assimilation program at home. The Head of Regional Office of the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Anggiat Napitupulu, through the Head of Singaraja Prison said that, the assimilation which is being carried out this time is stage III in 2023.

“This is stage III we carry out Assimilation at Home in 2023 with a total of ten people. This year’s total we have repatriated 23 people through the Assimilation at Home program,” said the Head of Singaraja Prison, I Wayan Putu Sutresna representing the Head of Regional Office of the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights. This at home assimilation program is a follow up to Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation number 43 of 2021 concerning the second amendment to Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation number 32 of 2020 concerning Requirements for the Granting of Assimilation and Integration Rights for Prisoners and Children in the context of Prevention and Mitigation of Covid-19.

This assimilation is not given to convicts who are included in Goverment Regulation number 99 of 2012 such as corruption, narcotics, terrorism and other transnational crimes.

In addition, they are also not recidivists, murder articles 339-340 of the Criminal Code, theft with violence Article 365 of the Criminal Code, decency articles 285-289 of the Criminal Code, and child protection articles 81-82 of Law number 23 of 2002.

“While undergoing the assimilation program at home, convicts must follow the rules and must report absences to the Correctional Center officer who handles them,” added I Wayan Putu Sutresna.

The Head of Binapigiatja Prison, Wayan Riasa added that, even though they were released, they had to comply with the conditions. Some of them are well behaved. If they commit a violation, their decision letter can be revoked and they will return to serving their sentence in prison.

One of the convicts in the law enforcement case who happens to be siblings, Sadikin and Pidyadi, admitted that they were very happy to be released early in 2023.

“I am very happy, I can be reunited with my family at home. This has been a lesson (getting caught in a crime) for me and my siblings to always be careful and restrain your emotions,” said the convict 1 year and 6 months. (Uchan)
